In the rolling hills between two valleys - where the UNESCO World Heritage “Val d’Orcia” meets the “Val di China” - sits “PODERE MADONNA” this recently renovated farmhouse… which dates back centuries…

Our home is quiet and off the path beaten by tourists.. but it’s just off a paved road and you can walk uphill into town for a coffee….

There are a number of hiking trails that pass by our house and we’re well located to explore Tuscany.

We’re surrounded by vineyards and are just about ten minutes by car from Montepulciano (which you see just across the valley)… and we’re about fifteen minutes drive to Pienza.

We found this old farmhouse tucked in the hills below this gem of a town, Montefollonico.

We bought it in 2021… started renovations the following year… and now - after lots of work - we are ready to share it while we’re traveling.

It’s our home… and it’s hard to be away from it… There are so many things we love about it… from the breathtaking view… to the spirit of the centuries old structure. The birdsong..

Authentic tradition in modern luxury

An original farmhouse dating back to the late 1500s, Podere Madonna (PoMad) just underwent a two year renovation designed to enhance all its original features while introducing all modern specifications and amenities. This was a project of love and great attention to detail, as well as a life choice, carried out by two guys who have spent 15 years living and working across the world.

PoMad has three double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, plus an office with a pullout couch and its own en-suite bathroom. Air conditioning and floor heating in every room, brand new Miele appliances and Italian design furniture across the property. Yet, what will take your breath away will be the unparalleled views from the kitchen windows and the entire garden.

Tuscany like you never imagined

Our newly built kitchen is in the former granaio (hey shed) and has stunning views onto Montepulciano. (We find people don’t mind doing dishes becuase of the view).

You will eat in what used to be the former stables, next to the original manger, looking at our ancient fireplace and the stone wall which has been hand grouted by local stone masons.

You’ll have an aperol spritz in the porcilaia, the former open pigsty, now turned into a gorgeous terrace overlooking the valley with its 15th century Renaissance cathedral. You will taste our organic, cold-pressed olive oil, produced on the property, and drink our neighbours’ Nobile di Montepulciano red wine.

This is our life, reloaded. The life we have worked so hard to create, and we want to share with you.

LOCATION:

The house is a few minutes drive (10 mins walk) from the town of Montefollonico, a gem on a hiiltop that determines the border between Val D’Orcia and Valdichiana. Less touristy than most other towns, this is where you will find a real slice of Tuscan life.

Podere Madonna is only 10 mins drive from Montepulciano; 20 mins from Pienza; 30 mins from Montalcino and 40 from Siena. This is the perfect launch site to explore the heart of Tuscany.

You will need to rent a car or have your own car to stay at PoMad.

Once booked at PoMad, will be more than happy to help you organize your dream Tuscan vacation. We can offer additional services like:

An in-house chef for the week or for one special meal, including the opportunity to have two local women from the town come and cook a traditional local meal one night;
In-house massage or we will connect you to three local spas/thermal baths for other spa related services - including incredible luxury hot springs 30mins away from the house;
We will send you a full list with recommendations for places to eat, drink and things to do around us, and we will be happy to book restaurants or experiences for you;
Wine tasting experiences, some including lunch and/or dinner.

Rental Details:

PoMad is an adults only property. It can host 6 adults in three double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. If needed, the office has a sofa bed and an en-suite bathroom that can turn into a fourth bedroom. Minimum stay of 6 nights (one week).
